Ahumada Jr. continues season with 3 days at Vado

El Paso, Texas, native Carlos Ahumada Jr. raced at nearby Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park on Friday through Sunday in the 23rd annual Rancho Milagro USRA Fall Nationals. Up against a stout field, Ahumada competed in all three A-Mains throughout the weekend at the 3/8-mile track.

When the event kicked off on Friday, Ahumada’s Hacienda Mechanical Inc. No. 65x was one of 47 USRA Modifieds on the property. Ahumada took an eighth-place result after registering a DNF in his heat race, but charged from 13th to win his B-Main and transfer to the night’s 25-lap feature. In the 25-lapper he started 18th and finished in the 15th position.

On Saturday, 45 Modified drivers made their way to Vado for another full night of racing. Ahumada finished third in his heat and both started and finished 11th in the 25-lap A-Main.

With Sunday’s finale offering $20,000 to the winner, 47 USRA Modifieds filled the pit area. Ahumada transferred to the 50-lap main event via a fourth-place result in his B-Main. He then started 14th in the event’s feature race and came home 15th.
