Carlos Ahumada Jr. continues early-season schedule with USMTS Texas Spring Nationals
A trip to the Lone Star State was on tap for Carlos Ahumada Jr. over the first weekend in March as he took part in Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) action at Petty, Texas' Rocket Raceway Park.
Ahumada was one of 65 Modified competitors at the 3/8-mile speed plant when the 14th annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals opened on Friday. He drove from ninth to third in his heat and claimed the sixth starting position in the night's 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature. However, he fell back during the race and finished 17th.
With another $5,000 on offer on Saturday, 67 USMTS Modified drivers made the trip to Rocket Raceway Park. Ahumada finished as runner-up in both his heat and B-Main, putting him 16th on the grid to begin the 50-lap finale. He came home in the 22nd position.
Through the first two weekends of USMTS competition in 2024, Ahumada sits 12th in the National Championship standings.
