Ahumada Jr. turns in 6th-place result in Vado Fall Nationals finale
On Friday and Sunday, El Paso, Texas, native Carlos Ahumada Jr. took on the 24th annual Fall Nationals at his home track of Vado (New Mexico) Speedway Park and posted multiple strong finishes.
Ahumada began his run on Friday as one of 44 USRA Modified competitors at the 3/8-mile venue. He turned in an impressive ninth-to-third run in his heat race aboard his Hacienda Motorsports No. 65x Modified, starting him fifth in the night’s 25-lap feature. He picked up one spot and finished fourth in the A-Main, taking the checkered flag behind Cade Dillard, Rodney Sanders and Jake Gallardo. Jake Timm completed the top five.
Ahumada’s effort also locked him into Sunday’s $20,000-to-win main event.
He began the 50-lap finale from seventh on the grid and came home sixth to conclude a solid weekend.
